On Thursday, July 4th, at Michael’s Back Door Restaurant (1715 Lakeshore Rd W., Mississauga), the Community Foundation of Mississauga will host its Star Reception and Launch Party, sponsored by LiUNA Local 183. This Meet & Greet function will introduce our Star Lineup for the 7th annual “Dancing with Mississauga Stars,” which will be held on Friday, November 1st, 2019 at the Mississauga Convention Centre. The event is fashioned after the popular TV show and is a red carpet affair complete with glitz, glamour, show-stopping dance numbers, and more sequins than can be counted!

The media is invited to attend this Star Reception and Launch Party to meet the six high-profile executives who have stepped up to this year’s challenge including: David Shaw, Owner & Managing Director of Nurse Next Door; Shelley White, CEO, Responsible Gambling Council; John Digby, Senior A/M Commercial, Retail & Business Services at RBC; Jaime Cortez, Executive Board Member, CECOF Coordinator at LiUNA Local 183; Dr. Ian Dawe, Chief, Mental Health, at Trillium Health Partners; and Joty Pannu, General Manager of Sauga Radio 960.

Over the coming months these ‘Stars’ will be paired with professional dancers from Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Mississauga, North York & Oakville, to learn one choreographed, ballroom style dance which they will perform on November 1st. The Grand Champion and winner of the ‘Mirror Ball Trophy’ will be judged for highest fundraising, audience votes and best dance performance.

We applaud these busy leaders who will fundraise a minimum of $10,000 each and who will give their personal time to learn to dance. Their effort to help the Community Foundation to build a strong and vital Mississauga says a great deal about how much Mississauga means to them. Over the past 7 years, this event has raised over $500,000 and with a little media attention we hope to make this year the best year yet!
